Accounting and Business Specialist

We are seeking a person who is self-motivated, extremely detail oriented, able to handle multiple priorities, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with time sensitive deadlines.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Accounting Responsibilities: • Prepare monthly and ad hoc journal entries at a detailed level, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate practice area and location profitability reporting. • Perform monthly detailed balance sheet and income statement reconciliations along with a comparison of actual to budget, forecast and prior year. • Calculate, analyze, and recommend adjustment to financial reserves. • Ensure accurate accounting on an accrual (book) and cash (tax) basis across multiple legal entities. • Perform daily cash reconciliations of all bank activity by account and transaction and resolve any discrepancies; ensure proper internal controls are documented and followed.

Business Responsibilities: • Generate and distribute client pre-bills in accordance with recurring monthly schedule; review and edit pre-bills prior to distribution to client. • Complete and distribute final invoices in accordance with Firm and client guidelines. • Provide client accruals, status updates and budgets.

Skills and Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in accounting • Working knowledge of GAAP • Knowledge of accounting and billing software • Energetic, positive, innovative, and technologically savvy, with a robust command of Microsoft Office; advanced use of Microsoft Excel is required. • Experience querying, extracting, and manipulating information from a data warehouse or other business intelligence database solution is a strong plus. • Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail • Highly professional approach with a client focused attitude and demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service to attorneys, assistants and other staff while juggling multiple tasks under pressure. • Flexible and able to multi-task; works well in a rapidly changing environment with strong organizational and time management skills. • Ability to strictly maintain client and Firm confidentiality. • Experience working in a law firm is a strong plus. • A satisfactory result on a post offer, pre-employment background screening.
