Accounting Specialist

This is a full-time, salaried position, based in Pittsburgh, PA. The successful candidate will assist the Controller in the daily processing of a variety of accounting and other financial related transactions, as well as supporting an ERP Implementation and general process/internal control improvements as the company grows. Responsibilities: • Complete month end balance sheet reconciliations • Review and classify invoices, expense reports, and other financial data. • Enter invoices into the accounting system. • Assist with weekly check runs. • Assist in the implementation of purchasing process with operations team, from PO creation to reconciling of incoming merchandise and vendor invoicing. • Participate in annual budgeting process. • Create various monthly journal entries to assist with 7-10 business day month end close. • Assist with various tax related functions including customer sales tax status, multi state sales & use tax tracking, and submission of a variety tax returns and forms. • Capture, classify and file digital receipts for corporate credit cards. • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for various agencies. • Participate in and support various internal control process improvements to maximize efficiency. • Participation in implementation of ERP financial system • Owning administrative tasks related to day-to-day operations of the office space, including but not limited to: ordering office supplies, maintaining office amenities, taking charge of office correspondence and calls • Assist in other special projects and/or duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting • 2-4 years of relevant experience • Familiarity with accrual based double entry accounting and GAAP accounting principles. • Strong familiarity with Excel and QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Suite, and G-Suite • Attention to detail coupled with a sense of urgency and efficiency. • Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills; an ability and desire to take ownership of ones’ workload. • Proven track record of successfully working independently as well as in a team setting. • Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills, and an understanding of the importance of handling confidential information appropriately.
