Business Analyst

Location: East of Pittsburgh, PA

Job Type: Full Time / Permanent

The Business Analyst works closely with the business and technical teams and is a major contributor to the delivery of application user requirements that drive an application delivery which meets business needs. This position sits within our Computer Systems Application group and will call for technical business analysts.


  • Performs feasibility analysis, participates in scoping projects, and works with the project management team to prioritizes deliverables and negotiate on application functionalities
  • Work with Business Process Analysts to:
    • Document business or process needs in application specific user requirements
    • Support the BPA in conducting business process mapping and modeling
  • Partners with IT, System Analysts, and System Engineers to provide reporting on application/software solutions
  • For new systems or updates to existing systems author:
    • User requirements as needed, application functional specifications
    • Business acceptance testing documents
  • Perform requirements analysis
  • Execute with end-users’ business acceptance testing
  • Transfers initial application delivery over to System Analysts and/or System Engineers to execute full application delivery
  • Participate in application demonstrations and work with stakeholders, end-users, BPAs, and technical staff to insure user requirements are fulfilled as expected
  • Create and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials; conduct training for SOPs
  • Must maintain company quality and safety standards
  • Practice and stay current with ISPE GAMP best practices, FDA GxP regulations, and applicable ISO standards
  • Coordinate activities with external consultants
  • Drive and monitor project progress by tracking activities; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; participating in professional societies

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field of study, or 10+ years of IT industry experience related to business analysis
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent documentation skills
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Functional, Data or Business Analyst
  • 3+ years authoring specification type documents
  • 3+ years of customer interfacing experience – project oversight, customer presentation
  • 3+ years’ using MS Word, Excel, and Visio or equivalent
  • Demonstrable ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions
  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills and ability to work in both collaborative and independent work situations
  • Demonstrable exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to comprehend technical information related to IT
  • Ability to understand FDA cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and related regulations associated with Bio/Pharmaceutical/Med product manufacturing and best practices (e.g. ISPE GAMP)
