DevOps Test Engineer

DevOps Cloud Test Engineer position in support of Cloud Operations and Migration Services (COMS) capability to provide operational input and support for the operations, maintenance, and refinement of the client’s Enterprise Cloud environment, execution support for migrating new and legacy applications and services to cloud computing and continuous improvement of  IT infrastructure. The candidate will support our clients in their cloud operations to enhance, optimize, and maintain their computing capabilities across their technical landscape. This includes working with our Cloud Architects and DevOps Engineers when interviewing clients to understand application and infrastructure current state and creating appropriate test cases and scripts. The DevOps Cloud Test Engineer must have expertise with Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS).


  • Create and maintain QA documents (Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Cases/Results) based on SDLC
  • Provides technical support in executing and managing test and deployment processes and establishes the environments used to conduct testing of the final deliverables.
  • Utilize automation and configuration management tools, such as Rational, Ansible, Chef, in conjunction with scripting tools, such as Terraform, AWS CLI, PowerShell, Bash, Python.
  • Develop and coordinate dry runs of IaaS scripts created by the DevOps team
  • Plan, design, develop, and use test automation frameworks and test scripts in a DevOps environment
  • Review business requirements and technical design documents
  • QA bug fixes and defect resolution as needed
  • Attend status meetings, team meetings, etc.
  • Prepare status reports (task progress, test execution)
  • Collaborate across functional teams on releases of varying size & complexity
  • Facilitate ITIL Problem and Change Management processes to guide the completion of root cause analysis to ensure issues do not recur and improve processes accordingly.
  • Provide oversight for deployment of releases into production environments.
  • Communicate plans, milestones and status, and escalate issues as required.
  • Communicate changes for production system with business continuity team to have DR plans up to date.

Education & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in test management, automated testing tools and QA management tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required. (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
  • Experience with SDLC/Testing methodologies and how to apply them.
  • Ability to manage the SDLC/Testing processes for an Agile DevOps team/project.
  • Able to pass a background check to obtain a Public Trust (High-Risk) Position
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Preferred Qualifications (soft skills, preferred, nice to have):
    • 3+ years of experience in load testing methodologies
    • Experience working in an ITIL or ISO 27000 environment
    • Active clearance for Public Trust (High-Risk) Position
    • Healthcare application development experience
    • Previous Federal Government experience
    • Experience with configuration of IBM Rational Toolset for management, configuration and reporting of work products.
    • Experience working in a CMMI-DEV or CMMI-SVC environment at Maturity Level 3 or above
    • One or more Microsoft or Amazon cloud certifications
    • ITIL certification or experience with ITIL
    • Active clearance for Public Trust (High-Risk) Position
