PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: The Endpoint Management Engineer is part of the IT support services directorate functioning with in the Computing and Technology Services Department (CTS). The Endpoint Management Engineer operates in a tier two organizational unit focused on Management and Deployments services of all endpoint edge computing software and apparatuses. The Endpoint Management Engineer will work under the Manager of Endpoint Engineering. The Endpoint Management Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, review, and implementation of endpoint deployment and software management services. The Endpoint Management Engineer will coordination their assigned projects and systems administration duties with the technical support administrative systems teams and with all other tier two organizational units under CTS. The Endpoint Management Engineer will thoroughly document and track their assigned duties through the university’s ITSM solution and change management processes to bring assigned projects to fruition. The Endpoint Management Engineer has the responsibility to work with management on conveying all essential information pertaining to the security and administration of endpoint computing to the dedicated technical edge managing partners across the university.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: The Endpoint Management Engineer’s primary purpose is to plan, develop and coordinate the appropriate management configurations, software deployments, and security provisions to University owned edge technology through administrative systems. The Endpoint Management Engineer will work with the deployment team on managing a comprehensive edge technology environment and associate the needed infrastructure to efficiently and effectively deploy edge technology with advanced configurations and security settings. The Endpoint Management Engineer will work with The Support Analysts in troubleshooting and resolving technical problems associated with edge software and hardware. The Endpoint Management Engineer will be part of a team responsible for evaluating, researching, implementing, and maintaining server / hosted management technologies to configure cross platform edge technologies for both on and off premises support. The Endpoint Management Engineer works with other CTS teams to cross train, administer, and maintain end user services and device inventory. The Endpoint Management Engineer will take the lead when called upon to support technology incidents and service outages. The Endpoint Management Engineer will proactively work to create operating system configurations, domain policies and integrate security software to prevent edge technology failures, exploits and service outages. The Endpoint Management Engineer is a collaborative member of the Endpoint Engineering team and will represent Support Services in multiple cross-team projects. The Endpoint Management Engineer researches and provides tailored specifications for purchase standards of the university desktop equipment supportable by the university’s administrative systems. The Endpoint Management Engineer is responsible for attaining the appropriate training and certifications associated with the deployment and management of edge technologies. The Endpoint Management Engineer needs to be able to work independently, and prioritize their work consistent with the goals and chartered projects of the Engineering team. The Endpoint Management Engineer participates in the creation, storage, and maintenance of procedural documentation associated with the management, deployment, and security of edge technologies.

POSITION SUMMARY: The following bullet point items will delineate the added roles of the Endpoint Management Engineer between from the support Analyst role. • The Endpoint Management Engineer will function as a backup administrator for some of the core services maintained by the systems administrator in the Endpoint Engineering teams. 1. Provision and Maintain the Microsoft Azure Lab space 2. Provision and Manage VMware Horizon view clients and maintain the master gold and replica images. 3. Perform routine Microsoft Endpoint Manager duties such as a. driver loads b. lab task sequences c. deployment task sequences d. software packaging e. PowerShell scripting f. Endpoint compliance and Patching 4. Azure Intune administration and policy management 5. JAMF Pro policy oversight and service owner • This new position will operate at a deeper level of cloud service systems administration. • The Position will perform project management over a portion of Endpoint Engineering portfolio. • The position will also have a concentrated focus on detailed endpoint technology service management / maintenance that will require research, planning, and implementation through the change management process approvals and scripted implementations. • The position with work with a customer focus, bringing the Desktop Support Analysts experience insight into the plans and operations of the Engineering team’s projects. • The Endpoint Management Engineer will proactively seek the necessary training and certifications to be knowledgeable and progressive in the desktop support services administration field. • The role will be able to respond in the event the primary systems administrator is unable to perform their duties. • The Endpoint Management Engineer will be able to be called upon to step in and represent the team in various CTS endeavors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides oversight on all the operating budgets totaling over $500,000. Reviews quarterly budgets with all operating units to ensure operating activity is accurate, appropriate, and in line with the annual budget plan. Manages the summer budget. Monitors and manages all non-labor accounts and discretionary funds, including resource funds, overhead, endowments, and scholarship accounts. Manages joint affiliation payments/deposits. Manages scholarship funds. Reviews and approves Unimarket purchases. Manages computer purchases, including budgeting and purchasing. • The Endpoint Management Engineer will function as a backup administrator for the core services maintained by the Endpoint Engineering team. 1. Provision and maintain the Microsoft Azure Lab space and related infrastructure 2. Provision, Manage, and deploy the VMware Horizon view clients including the master gold and replica images. 3. Perform routine Microsoft Endpoint Manager duties such as a. driver loads b. lab task sequences c. deployment task sequences d. software packaging e. PowerShell scripting f. Endpoint compliance and Patching 4. Azure Intune administration and policy management 5. JAMF Pro policy oversight and service owner. • The Endpoint Management Engineer will provide system administration and technical support including: • maintenance and upgrades of the server environment and software environment • developing, managing, documenting, custom scripts for application deployments and lifecycle management for software removal and replacements. • Configuring and implementing systems and servers • Installing applications that support the endpoint computing environment. • The Endpoint Management Engineer will design and implement hardware and software configurations and deployments to maximize productivity. The Endpoint Management Engineer will closely with other CTS Teams to create and maintain operating and security compliance of the university computer systems through scripted upgrades and patch management. The Endpoint Management Engineer will work at maintaining the comprehensive edge technology asset information for campus desktop computing systems, create and maintain integrations into the ITSM solutions and produce actionable reports for Endpoint operations to pass onto the departments for computer inventory life cycle management. The Endpoint Management Engineer will be a functioning member of the Security Incident Response team providing key support information for effective and efficient response during a technology security event. All other duties as assigned.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum three to five years of extensive customer facing desktop service support in both Apple and windows platforms. Minimum of three years’ experience deploying Windows and Apple computers in a managed enterprise environment utilizing services such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager, JAMF, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and utilizing an Active Directory object managed environment. Experience with IP address management, and desktop related network configurations and topologies. Experience with managed printer and print server technologies. Experience with operations and configurations Virtual technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V. Experience with a Mobile device management platform. Experience with desktop security / PII software such as Sophos and Spirion. Performing the appropriate file and security remediations produced by the software management portals. Preferable Windows Server systems administration and operational experience, application administration, active directory security settings, user / group permissions and deployment strategies. Minimum two years’ experience with software license management and deployment technologies such as Microsoft SCCM / KMS, Microsoft Windows Intune, Autopilot, MDM, or JAMF Pro Suite. Experience with cloud-based technologies such as Azure, Azure Labs, Microsoft Cloud Management gateway, and Hosted JAMF Pro. 11.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION: The Endpoint Management Engineer position is a systems deployment specialist and systems administration position to maintain the security and compliance of our campus end user’s technological community. This position requires the individual to be well communicated and flexible to work between groups and departments to fulfill the job functions assigned. The Endpoint Management Engineer is required to be customer focused and assimilate the needs of the end user into all the operations and administrative systems that they are involved in. The Endpoint Management Engineer is required to be knowledgeable of the end user’s needs and equally knowledge of the administration and deployment technologies to meet and exceed their expectations. This position has various degrees of systems administration responsibility. All system testing and development is done in a virtual and test environment, requiring the decisions and skill set of a systems administrator . This work requires various types of server builds and configurations to establish scope and project impact. The individual is responsible for managing their assigned service, this duties will include patch management service quality, change management and high availability The Endpoint Management Engineer reviews technical documentation, knowledge base data, and other sources to generate solution scenarios for edge technology issues. The Endpoint Management Engineer often faces multiple solutions and must be able to choose the solution that best integrates into the overall technology environment. This position must be mentally agile and anticipate technology environmental changes and be forward thinking. The Endpoint Management Engineer will be required to create and give presentations representing their initiative to the campus technology committees. Periodic updates and reports are expected.
