IT Application Engineer

The IT Application Engineer is responsible for the installation, implementation, deployment, and support of Firmwide applications. This includes supporting the entire life-cycle of the Firm’s standard suite of applications and systems, including research of new applications/technology, installation, deployment and advanced support and administration. Serve as an internal consultant to others in the department, particularly the IT Operations and IT Help Desk staff. The Applications Engineer reports directly to the Senior Manager of Applications and Database Administration.

Essential Functions: • Responsible for the installation, implementation, and deployment of firmwide applications and systems, including deployment and support of SaaS/cloud-based application systems. • Develop, deploy, and maintain application installation packages via scripts, application sequencing, and GPO for use across various firmwide systems. • Advanced level administration and support of firmwide applications and systems. Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve issues with applications, application environments including cloud applications. This includes working with other technical teams and/or escalating with vendors to resolve software and system related issues. • Assist with Application Architect duties including GPO, minor programming tasks, writing scripts, Citrix administration, advanced troubleshooting, and more. • Provide advanced technical and project support for other teams in IT. • Provide backup technical administration, support, and coverage for the various firmwide systems including document management systems and other application systems. • Monitor and act on escalated issues, problem tickets and requests for relevant application and system areas. This includes timely acknowledgement of tickets / requests and providing a high level of responsiveness and Customer Service. • Monitor and research software and systems for updates, version changes, and upgrades to assure firmwide standard applications are current / up-to-date and of optimum quality. • Research and participate in presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations of new applications and technologies. Keep current with evolving technologies and application platforms. Present findings and recommendations to the Senior Manager of Applications. • Present all recommendations for applications, application development projects, upgrades, tasks, and projects to the Senior Manager of Applications and Database Administration. • Produce, publish, and maintain technical design, policies and procedures as it pertains to relevant applications and systems. • Maintain skill level and knowledge through formal and informal means. • All other duties as assigned. • May volunteer or be selected to serve on special committees, work groups, project teams, or escalation teams related to various firmwide IT initiatives. Initiatives may be specific one-time events (e.g., research, testing, rollouts, upgrades, installations) or ongoing activities.

Requirements: • 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced support and configuration. • 3+ years’ experience with installation, implementation, and deployment of application systems in Windows Server environments and/or Windows 10. • 3+ years’ experience with Active Directory, Group Policies, PowerShell and other scripting technologies. • 3+ years’ experience with application packaging/sequencing technologies such as Symantec Ghost Solutions, Microsoft App-V, Microsoft SCCM or other software installation/packaging/deployment tools. • 1-2 years’ experience with Office 365 configuration, management, and support. • 1-2 years’ experience with Microsoft Cloud technologies • Experience with deployment and support of SaaS/Cloud-based application systems. Preferred • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred or comparable training and experience in IT discipline, Microsoft Certifications a plus. • Familiarity with productivity and analytical tools (MS Project, Visio, PowerBI, etc.) • Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops / Citrix DaaS preferred. • Experience with iManage or other document management systems a plus. • Ability to organize and prioritize heavy workloads and remain flexible in an environment of constantly changing priorities. Able to handle pressure from competing, changing priorities. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, solve problems using creative solutions. • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills. • Law firm experience, knowledge of legal industry specific applications a plus.
