IT Support Technician
Job Type: Contract
The IT Support Technician provides technical support for end user systems, software, hardware, instructional technology, and related peripheral equipment.
Duties: Answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming telephone, voice mail, e-mail, and help desk requests from users experiencing technology problems. Effectively walk end users through a problem-solving process by responding to help requests in writing, over the phone, and/or in person. Follow up with end users to ensure that issues have been resolved. Work with the technology services department to maintain updated help desk and inventory records. Install, modify, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues. Image district devices. Occasionally assist with staff development and create training guides. Install peripherals for users. Exercise initiative and independent judgment to carry out work assignments. Travel between sites. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Reports to: Director of Technology Services
Requirements: Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent experience. A minimum of three years of experience providing end-user phone support for PC desktop and application software and installing, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing personal computers in a network environment. Strong written and oral communication. Experience with imaging software. Ability to articulate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences. A strong customer service focus.
