Linux Engineer

Location: Pittsburgh

What will you be doing: • Design and develop integration strategies for our existing cybersecurity data collection solutions. • Design and configure our existing cybersecurity appliances, with the potential of innovating new technologies. • Implement predictive analysis to provide forecasts of trending cyber activity. • Collaborate closely with architecture and product teams, to understand and business and customer requirements, based on thorough technical knowledge. • Ensure the designing of secure and maintainable solutions. • Analyze systems and perform usability testing to ensure performance and reliability, enhance scalability, and meet security requirements within AWS Cloud. • Install, configure, and maintain the organization’s Linux Server instances in AWS Cloud. • Maintain operating efficiency and stability, ensure the security and integrity of all systems and data, and respond to outages and other issues. • Work with the formulation and/or implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to database management, security maintenance, and utilization. • Consult with users on issues relative to procedures, technical problems, and methodologies. • Provide an architectural framework for information system development, maintenance, and enhancement efforts. • Develop and enhance processes and technical documentation; create back-up procedures, test plans and reports. • Conduct knowledge transfer to junior Linux System Administration staff and provide training on new techniques and processes. • Communicate frequently with senior level staff and customers on issues related to system administration; provide customer support, as necessary.

What experience is needed: • A solid networking background with the ability to install and configure relevant software in both Windows and Unix/Linux environments. • Adept at scripting in Bash, Python or similar. • Advanced knowledge of Linux based operating systems • Experience Elastic technologies such as ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana • Experience of installing, configuring, and working with modern logging and monitoring tools (e.g., Kibana, ELK, Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix). • Experience working with cloud platforms. • Good understanding of data and security best practice. • Excellent communication and people skills • BSc/BA in marketing or relevant field

Additional insight: • Must know some programming and Linux scripting • Must have some good database knowledge (restore & retrieve data)
