Manager, Production Content Operations
Job Type: Full Time / Permanent
As Manager, Content Production Operations, you will supervise a team of Production Analysts in translating the digital lessons written by our Curriculum Authors into our CMS and ensure that the accompanying lesson plans and student workbook content is composed for online and print use. You will synthesize content production issues encountered by the production team, working cross-functionally with the Product and Engineering teams to resolve problems and improve overall quality.
What This Role Will Do: Achieve content production goals on time for both in-app and related print content, working closely with Production Director, Content Director, Print Project Manager, and Engineering. Maintain production calendar, understanding intermediate and milestone deadlines, mobilizing resources accordingly. Ensure daily operations run smoothly. Propose solutions in advance to Production Director for issues that may affect timeline or quality. Manage team of production analysts. Allocate workload across the team to achieve deadlines. Review their work and coach for best practices, consistency, and improvements in both processes and quality of deliverables. Onboard team members, train team members continually on new features. Take ownership of all CMS content, collaborating with Product and Engineering Directors to ensure content is created intentionally according to best practices and identify issues or inefficiencies with CMS tools. Ensure content creation processes operate with highest quality and that errors are addressed quickly. Synthesize learnings from content production team’s experience to proactively communicate cross-functionally about how content is made. Review draft content for best practices, flagging potential authoring or production issues before it goes into production. Act as first investigator to resolve CMS errors that are identified in previously released lesson content. Build expertise proprietary CMS and all internal tools for creating content. Guide production team on how each feature can and should be used. Act as a key point of contact for production team prior to escalating to Engineering. Troubleshoot production issues and collaborate with Product and Engineering team as appropriate to resolve them. Provide development team members with clear, accurate, and reproducible steps when documenting bugs. Continuously improve content creation processes and collaborate on special projects as they arise.
What You’ll Bring To The Role: 3+ years of experience in project, operations, production or product management, ideally within technology or education setting. 2+ years people management experience. Track record building deep product knowledge; excitement to understand and learn an existing and complex system. A highly responsive and solution-oriented mindset; excited to identify and resolve problems related to a product. Able to build positive relationships that facilitate the work of cross-functional teams, seamlessly conversing with content creators, engineers, and product managers. Excellent time management, written communication, and attention to detail. An obsessive inclination toward keeping things organized and making things better. Experience managing data in a content management system a plus. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and InDesign a plus. Ability to commute to NYC, with a hybrid schedule between home and office. A desire to join an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment at a high-growth organization.
