Product Manager – Optical Filters

We are seeking a Product Manager to join our Marketing team and manage the Optical Filter product line. In this role you will guide cross-functional team responsible for the complete customer experience, sets vision and strategy, defines features and requirements, and manages product life cycle for assigned product line(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Identify market opportunities
  • Conduct primary market research and leverage secondary market research to make informed decisions regarding product and strategy
  • Manage the product life cycle for assigned products
  • Own and manage the product roadmap
  • Identify customer/market problems
  • Define product features and capabilities
  • Collaborate with finance to determine Forecast Return on Investment and other key financial indicators
  • Define product positioning, distribution and pricing strategies
  • Create sales or market share projection
  • Collaborate with engineering and R&D to deliver new and improved products to market in a timely manner
  • Drive product launches
  • Act as product evangelist to build awareness and understanding
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact
  • Become the industry expert for all assigned market segments – law enforcement, security, etc
  • Manages thought leadership content development
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing communications to develop and execute launch and marketing plan
  • Act as expert on assigned market(s) including competition
  • Train sales, field service, and other employees as needed
  • Participate in speaking engagements including trade shows and industry events
  • Travel to and engage with customers/market on a regular basis to train, collect and evaluate Voice of Customer (VOC) for products and market segments, and develop relationships
  • Engage in business development activities, as needed, to establish and build relationships with potential partners and customers
  • All other duties as assigned by management

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sciences or marketing-related degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • At least 5 years experience as a Product Manager or Marketing Manager in a related industry or equivalent experience
  • Product Management Certification and/or MBA preferred
  • Expertise or knowledge of optical filter technology and associated markets
  • Experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining product strategies from innovation to end-of-life
  • Experience working with direct sales and distribution groups
  • Technical writing and communication skills necessary
  • Proven experience in customer and market research
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills including formal presentation and technical writing abilities
  • Ability to articulate and develop business cases
  • Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines, manage projects independently and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously
  • Team-leadership skills; excellent people skills and an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude
  • Resourcefulness in solving problems; good judgment, and comfortable with decision making
  • Superior professionalism and judgment with both internal colleagues and external customers
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
