Production Planner

Summary: The Production Planner is a key position that is recognized as a critical function for business success. The ideal candidate for this position will provide professional communication and support to the Production Team and utilize Epicor ERP system to provide accurate information. The Production Planner is responsible for actively planning and scheduling production demand against material supplies, assembly resources, and order priority.

Key Responsibilities: • Establish and maintain the Production Schedule for our high-tech analytical product line that meets customer requirements and operational targets in line with company’s annual operating plan • Review master schedules continuously to ensure the established sequence is followed, and schedule jobs according to start date, capacity and priority. • Maintain accurate dates in ERP system. • Maintain files and records related to material, labor, WIP and completed orders. • Create Jobs for incoming orders on a daily basis. • Print and distribute Job Pick Lists to Production Team Leads. • Issue parts and assign labor to each Job within Epicor ERP system • Track and manage Shortages to ensure resolution for timely production. Monitor delivery of purchased parts with the shortages for each job; and notify the Materials Manager of any inventory issues or discrepancies. • Complete Jobs in Epicor ERP system, after all material/labor has been assigned. • Communicate clearly and timely to relevant team members including: • Relaying schedules and priorities to manufacturing teams • Notifying any immediate shortages to complete Jobs to the Purchasing Department • Advising supervisor regarding status of any orders, materials problems, and potential bottlenecks • Review / analyze ERP output reports and online screens to determine valid requirements, taking into consideration excess on hand/work-in-process (WIP) material. • Perform any needed planning tasks • Work with other manufacturing support organizations (i.e., procurement, production support engineering) and operations personnel to resolve issues. • Assure appropriate use of Epicor’s ERP system and adopt new business practices as part of newly modeled processes. Become a change-agent in support of new ERP practices. • Apply equal amounts of skills and dedication to all other duties as assigned.

Qualifying Attributes and Skills: • Minimum 5 years relevant Production Management, Planning, Inventory Management, Materials Control, and Processing Work Orders in a manufacturing environment. • Operational knowledge of ERP system and the ability to leverage ERP functionality to drive productivity preferred • Strong organization and leadership skills. • Great analytical and planning skills and analytical thinking abilities. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Must be a team player, task-oriented, ability to work under pressure. • Candidate must be results-driven with a positive “can do”, professional attitude. • Ability to establish priorities and perform multiple tasks at one time within deadlines. • Strong problem solving, mathematical, and analytical skills. • Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working within multicultural, geographically dispersed teams. • Strong organizational, planning, presentation, and time management skills. • Close interaction with other departments on orders (e.g. planning department, sales, logistics, etc.).
