We are seeking a passionate Senior Design Strategist to join a unique strategy team positioned to contribute to the digital transformation of health services. Our team marries experience design, business, and technology perspectives with the operational needs of the organization – but centers on solving for the clinical and non-clinical needs of healthcare consumers. An ideal candidate for the Senior Design Strategist role would contribute in the following ways: • Lead Design Research Programs. Create and execute discovery plans, leveraging a robust toolset of design research methods, both nimbly and with rigor. Showcase a willingness to integrate qualitative with quantitative insights, generated via business and workflow analysis. • Visual Thinking & Synthesis. Translate ideas into artifacts that further the organization’s understanding of both problems and opportunities. Feel comfortable sketching ideas and experiences at a blank canvas. Make compelling arguments, tell concise stories, and deliver messages that showcase sensitivity to the audience. Visualize complex systems effectively. • Making & Demonstrating. Translate insights into design implications and requirements – and ultimately into real products, processes, and services. Support opportunities to build new products, or to partner with complementary companies. • Program Management. Contribute to major deliverables with cross functional team members, including non-designers, like product managers, technologists, futurists, analysts, and clinicians. We work very closely with colleagues and patients on the front-lines of healthcare in our clinical facilities and administrative centers. Responsibilities: • Able to demonstrate the value of design strategy and (human-centered design (HCD), as a strong advocate for the approach within the larger organization • Capable of working on large or complex projects (or multiple small/mid-size projects) while maintaining momentum and quality • Builds appropriate project plans, goals and work plans to frame early-stage efforts in an actionable and relevant way • Uses ethnographic design research methods to develop qualitative insights that impact projects, products, and strategy • Conducts primary and secondary research to discover unknowns and to explore trends, perspectives, and applications in the field (including market research, stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiry/ ethnographic observation, etc.) • Able to facilitate stakeholder sessions, user groups and participatory design sessions to capture ideas, feedback and requirements • Delivers appropriate HCD deliverables to demonstrate findings, recommendations or strategy direction including wireframes, prototypes, research reports, personas or service models • Able to collaborate with and strengthen relationships between product managers, business leaders, and clinical/operational champions • Operates largely independently with project direction from supervisor once a week • Tolerates ambiguous problem-solving • Thrives in making the complex simple and digestible.

Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Human Centered Design (HCD) or related field (i.e., Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Communication/Graphic Design, Cognitive Psychology, Interaction Design, Human Factors, etc.) required or comparable degree and/or experience o Advanced degree preferred Master’s Degree, industry experience in traditional or emerging design disciplines • 2-3 years of professional experience • Significant experience framing project goals and timelines in the face of uncertainty, including a demonstrated comfort level working with unfamiliar domains, delicate topics and complex problems • Understands and applies detailed HCD principles and processes, including a detailed understanding of qualitative and quantitative research, analysis, and synthesis methods • Can complete advanced HCD deliverables in several of the following specialty areas (ethnographic or contextual research, concept generation, prototyping, usability study, information architecture, interaction design, etc.) • Is visually and verbally articulate; including the ability to lead interactive group development sessions • Understands and applies values and code of conduct. Interacts with others in an open, honest, collaborative, and reliable manner.

Preferred Qualifications: • Passion for improving the healthcare experience for all involved • Previous experience working in healthcare or related industries • Experience using sketching and visualization techniques to drive conversation with internal teams and/or stakeholders • Experience integrating design strategy with business, product, and institutional priorities to maximize overall impact • Ability to think strategically and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of product managers, designers, clinical staff, and others • Comfort working in systems that regularly move between granular and big-picture concepts • Comfort engaging with institutional stakeholders and end users on a regular basis • Track record of supporting projects from concept to launch Please submit a link to an online portfolio with design samples.
