Software Quality Assurance Manager

The Role:  You will lead a growing team of QA Analysts that has stewardship of our applications across our 3 business units. The QA team is responsible for ensuring a positive experience for the users of our eCommerce Gifting applications and our internal tools. You will work with the Product team to understand the intent of the application, with the developers to ensure that intent is being met, and with all other stakeholders to ensure their interests are represented. We are growing into a mature company, but we still have a start-up mindset. Managers in all departments are expected to contribute to their team’s responsibilities as player-coaches. You should expect to understand our business and our applications and actively partake in the QA process. Our offices are in Western PA. This position is remote, but we will ask you to come into two from time to time for company events.

Responsibilities • Lead, mentor and evaluate members of the QA Team and drive toward process improvement and automated test coverage • Coordinate with Software Development Managers and Product Owners to ensure testing coverage and verification for releases • Develop and enforce metrics around the QA team and the SDLC • Advance our automated testing posture by designing processes and tooling to increase coverage • Manage the process and contribute to application testing and automated test suite construction • Share in the Production Support process with the developers and the operations team • Make use of our existing tooling: Browserstack, End Test, Nightwatch testing framework, JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, BitBucket Pipelines, PHPUnit

What we need a QA manager for right now • Taking inventory of our current QA processes and metrics to propose a plan to go from current state to future state; own a roadmap that gets us to future state. • Understand and improve our release tracking process. Make use of tooling to automate as much as possible. • Increase transparency around the testing process, and the coverage for each application. • Help us define the relationship between QA and Production Support. Qualifications • BS in Computer Science, Life Sciences, Engineering, or equivalent work experience. • 5+ years of experience performing Quality Assurance on software team. • 2+ years managing direct reports. • Experience with a modern SDLC, including build pipelines. • Experience with writing and managing automated test suites. • Well organized and detail oriented. • Must possess qualities supporting the company values of drive, teamwork, caring and integrity.

Recommended Qualifications • Ability to recommend SDLC and individual metrics to determine process efficiency. • Direct experience with working with developers that write their own automated tests within the code base. • Ability to demonstrate testing coverage for an application, including breakdown of automated vs manual test, regression coverage, etc.
