Sr DevOps Engineer

JOB OVERVIEW:  The Development Operations Engineer role is to coordinate and lead the activities related to the implementation and administration of the organizations production systems. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her solutions team on issues related to the management and administration of mission-critical production systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: • Lead in DevOps requirements analysis. • Ensure that systems meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues. • Review and analyze existing operations effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems. • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of system-usage best practices. • Ensure that all processes within DevOps are properly documented and cross training is in place where applicable. • Technical leader with supervisory responsibility for overall personnel coordination and work prioritization for the DevOps team.

QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent 8 years’ progressive experience in IT Operations and/or systems management • Strong practical experience in enterprise level IT environments. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft IIS and administration at an enterprise level. • 8+ years direct experience in IT Operations and/or systems management. • Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of IT solutions. • Direct, hands-on experience with automated software and system management. • Strong knowledge of change control best practices and methodologies. • Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies. • Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc. • Strong knowledge of PowerShell and coding standards. • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives. • Experience with Agile development methodology a plus.

INTERACTION: • This role will work closely with key departmental and project stakeholders across the organization. Therefore, the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of management and staff within the organization is a key priority in this role. This role does not have supervisory responsibilities.
