Sr Director – Office of Technology

Location: West Pittsburgh, PA

Job Type: Full Time / Permanent

Aligned to the overall Technology Organization and reporting to the CTO, this role will ensure strategic alignment between the Technology organization and broader Enterprise strategies and practices while driving operational efficiency within the business of Technology. This role will lead cross-technology efforts to run the organization as a business and partner with senior leaders, tech teams, and other peers to coordinate initiatives across the Technology organization and the enterprise. This role will help build the culture and brand of our Technology organization.


  • Leads strategy definition efforts and ensures alignment of the Technology strategies with Enterprise level strategy and goals
  • Supports strategic planning activities across the Enterprise on behalf of Technology organization
  • Drives operational efficiency within Technology by driving capabilities into an operating model and managing tactics and planning efforts
  • Manages the backlog and portfolio of initiatives at the Technology leadership level
  • Leads and supports prioritization, budgeting, and goal setting at the Technology Organizational level
  • Drives change management, and communications planning and execution efforts across Technology
  • Leads internal and external Technology Brand efforts
  • Plans marketing and branding efforts and drives activities that build the “culture” of the Technology organization. Drives organization to think about how to market the successes within Technology
  • Ensures alignment, and works on assigned initiatives, in conjunction with other Portfolio Directors within Technology
  • Drives Technology organizational reporting practices and alignment in financial tracking and value delivery
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to teammates within the Office of Technology, and serves as an escalation point for address critical actions or issues
  • Conducts annual and mid-year reviews by reviewing individual development plans and team feedback
  • Fosters collaboration with team members to drive consistency across technology teams and finds opportunities to expose teammates to career interests
  • Guides team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks within and across technology teams
  • Participates in and contributes to learning activities around modern engineering practices (communities of practice)


  • 10-15 years of relevant work experience, with 4-5 years of experience in a retail and eCommerce environment
  • Experience translating ideas, approaches, and dependencies between technical and functional team members
  • Experience defining and developing strategies in a technology and retail environment
  • Experience communicating program status, risks, issues, and needs to senior leaders, and managing up
  • Experience managing alignment across projects or product teams in an enterprise environment
  • Proficient in managing and growing team members in a professional setting
  • Experience managing strategic vendor relationships or acting as the primary point of contact for strategic partnerships
