Sr UX Designer

Location: Pittsburgh

Job Type: Contract

Purpose: The Senior UX Designer is responsible for designing solutions that satisfy users and allow them to advance and achieve their goals. The Senior UX Designer is the design lead in product development teams, collaborating with product and engineering to discover and deliver new solutions through the entire product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities: • Work closely and collaboratively with the S/W development team • Performs a thorough assessment of the applications that are developed inhouse, from a UX perspective • Independently examine gaps in UX standards and establish current and future UX standards • Identify gaps in necessary artifacts/documentation and processes required for ensuring all future UI development is in tune with UX standards • Create a detailed report with observations, analysis of each observation and recommendations categorized by effort, impact and priority • Create recommendations to be categorized by Effort, Impact and Priority • Participate in report meetings to review recommendations and agree on implementation schedule and priority • Implement recommendations based on agreed prioritized items • Create project plan scope and all other details • Create mockups, wireframes, and workflows to present to leadership/team.

Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar UX-related role. • An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating relevant experience for digital customer-facing web applications is required for this role • 4+ years of experience creating prototypes or highly detailed wireframes for complex customer-facing web applications • 2+ years of experience working in a collaborative team and directly with developers for implementation of designs. • Ability to prototype in HTML, JavaScript, & CSS • Demonstrated history of acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) • Fluency in best practices for information architecture and interaction design, user-centered design process, prototyping, as well as strong knowledge of user experience principles and techniques • A degree in a Human Computer Interaction, Visual Communication or similar other digital design related field. Commensurate work experience will be accepted in lieu of formal degree. • Experience working in early product development • Experience working closely with a software development team.

Preferred Qualifications: • Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a strong rationale for design decisions • Experience using Adobe XD or similar products for prototyping and software diagramming • Familiarity with modern Angular applications • Experience with material design and modern web components. • Familiarity with user interface patterns for customer-facing web applications. • Deliver responsive designs for mobile web and desktop. • Partner with and guide developers on design implementation.
