Staff Accountant

Job Type: Contract to Hire

The Staff Accountant is responsible for most aspects of the monthly financial closing and several aspects of daily financial operations. In addition to a strong grasp of accounting concepts, the Staff Accountant must have excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  1. Responsible for most aspects of the monthly financial closing including: i. Bank reconciliations ii. Balance sheet account reconciliations and roll forwards iii. Calculating and posting various accruals iv. Depreciation 2. Responsible for several aspects of daily financial operations including: i. Payroll (through a payroll service) ii. Accounts payable iii. Deposits iv. Billing and accounts receivable v. Fixed asset management 3. Interface with independent auditor and streamline the annual audit process by preparing supporting schedules and answering inquiries. 4. Prepare and maintain backup of all assigned billings/reports to include county and 403(b). 5. Prepare and update employee-training allowances and FSA postings; tracking expenses. 6. Perform all other tasks/projects as assigned by supervisor

Education:  Two or four-year college degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Two years of accounting experience is required. Other skills or qualifications:  Excel/Office proficiency – Accounting software experience (preferably with QuickBooks) – Organizational and problem-solving skills – Helpful, friendly, courteous, and a team player.
