Staff Grant Accountant

Location: Pittsburgh

Job Type: Full Time / Permanent

Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance for restricted grants through the preparation of reports and statements.

Financial Duties:

  • Prepare assigned monthly journal entries.
  • Prepare assigned account reconciliations.
  • Review all incoming restricted grants for financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all donor program requirements.
  • Prepare documentation, record and reconcile all financial activity related to grant programs.
  • Collaborate with Development team on grant activities.
  • Attend monthly grant management meetings to provide updates on grant spending.
  • Assist in the design, documentation and maintenance of internal control processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for external parties of interest.
  • Assist in preparation for year-end audit.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Back up for Senior Grants Accountant – Government and Accounts Receivable activities.


  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Management, and two years related accounting and general ledger experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of financial controls.
  • Excellent computer skills in Excel, Word, Office 365 Accounting software. Exposure to NetSuite and business intelligence tools a plus.
  • Experience with non-profit and/or grant management.
  • Excellent organizational, reasoning, mathematical and communication skills
  • Must pass Act 33 & 34 clearances.
