WorkDay Project Manager – HR
Job Type: Full Time / Permanent
The Project Manager – HRIS is responsible for leading cross functional teams in the evaluation, recommendation, development and implementation of new features, processes, and systems to support HR. This role helps build and cultivate strong partnerships between HRIS and our HR Centers of Excellence, Technology, and vendor partners. A key aspect of this role is to coordinate all planning, scheduling, communications, legal, and financial implementation components of HRIS projects in accordance with the overall project objectives. Effectively communicates strategy, plans, issues, risks, contingencies, and approach to all levels of the organization.
Project Execution and Communication :• Responsible for assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and escalating functional, quality, and timeline issues appropriately • Coordinate and schedule critical meetings during project execution with stakeholders and teams • Create and maintain a detailed project plan with appropriately assigned resources • Hold working teams accountable for task completion and assist to remove roadblocks when necessary.
Project Planning and Scheduling: • Lead business discovery efforts for new projects, engaging the procurement team when necessary, through RFI and RFP processes • Work closely with business analysts and system admins to determine project stakeholders and milestones • Work with technology counterparts to estimate realistic dates for all identified project milestones and tasks • Assist with Business Case documentation when required.
Project Risk Calculation and Mitigation: • Monitor the health and success of project implementation including adherence to project timelines, budget management, and avoiding scope creep • Identify and implement measurement tools or metrics to assist with monitoring project success • Identify project risks, solutions for risk mitigation, and collaborate with stakeholders to determine the best course of action.
Documentation, Process Analysis, and Change Management: • Assist with user acceptance testing, cutover planning, and production validations • Validate identified required documentation and ensure completion (e.g. project charters, user guides and/or standard operating procedure documents) • Assist with change management and transition ownership to the correct business or technology owner • Lead lessons learned sessions after project closure to improve processes and team collaboration. • Document outcomes and incorporate lessons learned in all future projects.
Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Technology, Computer Science, or related field • 5-7 years of experience total…5 years of progressive business, system or technology experience, and 2 years Project Management experience. Workday HCM experience is a plus. • PMP certification preferred • Expertise in performing quality assurance reviews of programming, testing, documentation & workplans prepared by vendors • Experience with multiple major system implementation projects requiring collaboration with cross-functional teams • Proficient in Microsoft Project or similar tool • Experience with Workday HCM a plus • Proficient in the use of project management tools, Gantt charts, etc. • Proficient in project management skills, systems development life cycle and implementing packaged solutions • Experience in planning and estimating work effort • Good Leadership of technical and business resources.
